Outdoor Unit Installation Clearances
The supplied MRCOOL submittal sheets also provide outdoor-unit clearance diagrams.
They show:
4 inches (100 mm) or more at specified sides.
14 inches (350 mm) or more at the indicated service/airflow area.
20 inches (500 mm) or more when the front and sides of the unit are clear.
The diagrams also state 20 inches (500 mm) or more when any two sides of the left, right and rear of the unit are clear.
Because actual placement conditions can vary, use the clearance diagram for the specific model rather than relying on a single number taken out of context.

What refrigerant does the MRCOOL DIY 5th Gen Multi-Zone use?
The five DIY Multi-Zone submittal sheets covered here specify R454B refrigerant.
Are all MRCOOL DIY Multi-Zone condensers the same physical size?
No. The outdoor-unit dimensions vary by model. The 48K and 55K models are substantially taller two-fan condensers, while the smaller models use single-fan designs.
What voltage do these MRCOOL DIY Multi-Zone condensers use?
The supplied submittal sheets specify 208/230V, 60Hz, single-phase power.
What is MCA?
MCA stands for Minimum Circuit Ampacity. It is an electrical value used when determining the minimum ampacity of the branch-circuit conductors serving the equipment.
What is MOCP?
MOCP stands for Maximum Overcurrent Protection. It identifies the maximum permitted overcurrent-protection rating specified for the equipment.
MCA and MOCP should not be treated as interchangeable values.
Can I choose a breaker simply from the condenser’s BTU size?
No. Electrical requirements should be taken from the exact equipment nameplate, applicable documentation and electrical requirements. The submittal information above is useful for planning, but electrical installation should comply with applicable codes and manufacturer instructions.
Does a 55K model mean exactly 55,000 BTU/h of rated cooling?
Not on this submittal. The DIY-MULTI6-55HP230D-O is the 55K-class model, while its supplied submittal lists 47,000 BTU/h rated cooling capacity and 55,000 BTU/h rated heating capacity at 47°F.
How many zones can the DIY Multi-Zone systems support?
This family includes 3-, 4-, 5- and 6-zone outdoor condensers. The number of available connections does not mean every possible indoor-unit combination is approved. Indoor-unit compatibility and system-capacity requirements still need to be checked for the exact configuration.
