CoolGuard CTK-2 Condensate Trap Kit with Integrated Overflow Float Switch- 24VAC HVAC Drain Protection

Product Description

Protect your HVAC equipment from costly condensate overflow with the CoolGuard CTK-2 Condensate Trap Kit. Featuring an integrated overflow float switch, this kit automatically shuts down your HVAC system when a clogged condensate drain is detected. Designed for sloped drain line installations up to 45°, the CTK-2 provides dependable condensate management for residential and commercial HVAC systems.

Condensate drainage is essential for keeping your HVAC system operating safely and efficiently. The CoolGuard CTK-2 Condensate Trap Kit with Overflow Switch combines a condensate trap with an integrated float safety switch to provide two layers of protection against clogged drain lines and water damage.

As your air conditioner or heat pump removes humidity from the air, condensation naturally forms on the evaporator coil. If the condensate drain becomes blocked, water can back up into the air handler, potentially damaging internal components, insulation, ceilings, flooring, and drywall.

The CTK-2 continuously monitors condensate levels and automatically interrupts the 24VAC Class 2 thermostat circuit whenever an overflow condition is detected, safely shutting down the HVAC system until the blockage is corrected.

Designed specifically for sloped condensate drain installations, the trap kit operates reliably on drain line angles up to 45 degrees, making it an excellent choice for a wide variety of HVAC installations.

The removable inspection cap allows quick access for routine maintenance, cleaning, and inspection, helping keep your condensate system operating properly throughout the cooling season.

Whether you’re installing a new HVAC system or upgrading an existing one, the CoolGuard CTK-2 provides dependable condensate overflow protection while simplifying drain line maintenance.

FAQ for the CoolGuard CTK-2

What does the CoolGuard CTK-2 do?

The CoolGuard CTK-2 combines a condensate trap with an integrated overflow float switch that automatically shuts down your HVAC system if a clogged condensate drain causes water to back up, helping prevent costly water damage.

Where is the CTK-2 installed?

The CTK-2 installs directly into the condensate drain line leaving the air handler, where it functions as both the drain trap and overflow protection device.

Will this work with any HVAC system?

The CTK-2 is compatible with most residential and light commercial air conditioners, heat pumps, and air handlers that use a 24VAC Class 2 thermostat control circuit.

What happens if the drain becomes clogged?

As water backs up inside the trap, the integrated float switch rises and interrupts the 24VAC thermostat circuit, automatically shutting off the HVAC system until the blockage is cleared.

Can it be installed on sloped drain lines?

Yes. The CoolGuard CTK-2 is designed to operate on drain line slopes up to 45 degrees, making it ideal for many HVAC installations.

Is maintenance easy?

Yes. The removable cap allows quick inspection, cleaning, and servicing without removing the entire trap assembly.

Does the CTK-2 help prevent water damage?

Absolutely. By shutting down the HVAC system before condensate can overflow, the CTK-2 helps protect ceilings, drywall, flooring, insulation, and the air handler from water damage.

What voltage does the float switch operate on?

The CoolGuard CTK-2 operates on 24VAC and is designed for use with Class 2 thermostat circuits.

Is this a DIY-friendly installation?

Most homeowners with basic HVAC knowledge can install the CTK-2, but professional installation is recommended to ensure proper drainage, wiring, and system operation.

Why should I install a condensate overflow switch?

Condensate drain clogs are one of the leading causes of HVAC-related water damage. Installing a float switch like the CTK-2 provides an extra layer of protection by automatically shutting down the system before overflow occurs, potentially saving hundreds or even thousands of dollars in repairs.
