MRCOOL Universal 2 Ton Dual Fuel HVAC System

Get the advantages of an efficient inverter heat pump and a high-efficiency gas furnace in one central ducted heating and cooling system.

This MRCOOL® dual-fuel combination uses the Universal® Series 24,000 BTU DC Inverter Heat Pump Condenser for efficient cooling and heat-pump heating and pairs it with an 80,000 BTU VersaPro® 96% AFUE gas furnace for powerful gas heating.

Between them sits the MCMP1824BOTB 1.5–2 ton pre-charged R-454B cased evaporator coil, creating a matched component package designed for traditional ducted HVAC applications.

Rather than relying solely on electric resistance backup heat, a properly configured dual-fuel system can use the heat pump when conditions favor efficient electric heating and transition to the gas furnace when gas heat is called for.

24,000 BTU Universal DC Inverter Heat Pump

The UHP18024-O is a 2-ton, 24,000 BTU Universal Series heat pump condenser engineered for both heating and cooling.

Its DC inverter compressor can vary output instead of operating strictly at full capacity or completely shutting off. This can provide smoother temperature control, quieter operation and improved energy efficiency compared with conventional fixed-speed equipment.

80,000 BTU 96% AFUE Two-Stage Gas Furnace

When gas heating is required, the MGM96EE080B3NB VersaPro furnace provides 80,000 BTU input and 76,000 BTU output with a 96% AFUE rating.

Its two-stage design allows the furnace to better adapt heating output to demand instead of relying on a single operating stage.

The furnace also features an ECM blower motor, aluminized steel tubular heat exchanger, stainless-steel secondary heat exchanger and upflow or horizontal installation capability.

It operates on 115V / 1 phase / 60 Hz, requires an 8A MCA, and has a 15A maximum fuse/breaker.

Natural gas is standard, with propane conversion available using the appropriate optional LP conversion kit. That is included. 

Pre-Charged R-454B Indoor Coil

The included MCMP1824BOTB is a 1.5–2 ton, 17.5-inch cased evaporator coil pre-charged with R-454B refrigerant.

It supports multiple installation orientations and includes:

Upflow, downflow and horizontal configurations, a TXV metering device, dual front drain connections, a side drain pan for horizontal applications, CoolGuard® corrosion-resistant aluminum coil technology and an A2L refrigerant leak detection sensor.

No-Vac Quick Connect Compatibility

One of the major advantages of the Universal platform is line-set flexibility.

The Universal condenser is compatible with the appropriate MRCOOL® No-Vac® Quick Connect® line set, sold separately. This pre-charged and sealed line-set option can eliminate traditional vacuuming and flaring requirements associated with many conventional installations.

Standard installation methods may also be available when appropriate.

Line-set requirement: 3/8-inch liquid × 3/4-inch suction.
